The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission is an independent national human rights institution established in accordance with Article 55/14 of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Proclamation No. 210/2000. The objective of the commission shall be to educate the public be aware of human rights see to it that human rights are protected, respected and fully enforced as well as have the necessary measures taken where they are found to have been violated.
Based up on its establishing proclamation, the Commission is headed by a Chief Commissioner, a Deputy Chief Commissioner, a Commissioner heading the children and women Affairs and also eight branch office Commissioners. The upper body of the Commission is Council of Commissioner; which is composed of 11 Commissioners.
The Commission to properly function its mandate and accessibility to the public. Ethiopian Human Rights Commission has re-designed web portal and has been launch for the public on July 10 2019. The new web portal launched is available www.ehrc.gov.et.
